A note on language

Note: Language is hard. We recognize there are so many ways we refer to people with physical disabilities and people with lived experience of mental health diagnoses and trauma. In the YES Health project, we are simply using the term "people with physical disabilities and mental health needs." What we mean more specifically by people with physical disabilities is people with movement difficulties or other physical difficulties who need assistance performing basic daily activities (for example, need help with cooking). "People with mental health needs" refers to people who have received psychiatric diagnoses and have used mental health services or peer supports. We are referring to people who feel their diagnosis has significantly impacted their lives and how they go about their activities. However you choose to refer to yourself, if you contact us and are eligible to take part in YES Health, we welcome and value your experiences and stories about One Care.
